How to Train Your Dragon (2025) — “Real Dragons? Bro, They Actually Did That"

By : Joanne Olivia
From fear to friendship — their journey still hits hard.

Okay, let’s talk about How to Train Your Dragon (2025) — the live-action remake we never knew we needed.

As someone who grew up watching Hiccup and Toothless fly around in animated glory, I was lowkey nervous when they announced a real-life version. But dude... this movie ate.

The Story
Not just rider and dragon — they’re family.

They basically kept the heart of the OG story — a young Viking who befriends a dragon instead of slaying it — but with a more emotional, grounded vibe.
The chemistry between Hiccup and Toothless still hits hard. Like, you feel their bond, even though one of them is literally a CGI dragon. The pacing’s smoother, and they sprinkle just enough nostalgia for the old fans while still making it fresh for new viewers.

The Visuals
Ride or die — literally.

Bruh, the visuals are INSANE. Every shot looks like it belongs on a wallpaper. The scenery? Unreal. The sky scenes where Hiccup flies Toothless again? Literal chills.
You can tell they poured their souls (and budget) into making Berk look alive — from the misty cliffs to the glowing firelight. It’s a perfect blend of fantasy and realism.

The Tech Magic

When CGI goes brrr and suddenly you believe in dragons.

Now, the dragons… let’s talk about THAT. The CGI is next-level. Toothless looks so real you’d think he could actually bite you. Every scale, every blink, every wing flap looks alive.
The motion capture tech they used here? Chef’s kiss. You can literally see emotion in Toothless’s eyes — like, HOW?!

Honestly, technology’s gotten so advanced it’s kinda scary. But also? Beautiful.

If you loved the original trilogy, this one’s gonna hit you right in the feels. It’s nostalgic, visually stunning, and emotionally satisfying.
Not gonna lie — I teared up a bit when that theme song kicked in.
10/10 would train a dragon again.
