Venom: The Last Dance — The Symbiote Saga’s Final Chapter
Venom : The Last Dance Official Poster
Released in 2024, Venom: The Last Dance marks the third and final installment in Sony’s Venom trilogy. Directed by Kelly Marcel and co-written with Tom Hardy, this film closes the chapter on Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote partner, Venom. Unlike the typical Marvel blockbuster formula, The Last Dance embraces a darker, more chaotic tone while still delivering humor and emotional depth.
The movie follows Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom as fugitives on the run, hunted by both humans and alien forces. Their journey takes them across borders, into Mexico and the desert, where they realize a far greater threat awaits: Xenophage, a creature that hunts symbiotes, and Knull, the dark god of the symbiotes. Central to the plot is the concept of the Codex, a biological remnant formed when symbiotes resurrect their hosts. This element becomes the key to Knull’s awakening, turning Eddie and Venom’s survival into a mission that could decide the fate of worlds.
The Beginning — Life on the Run
The movie opens with Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom trying to live under the radar. After the chaos of the previous movies, they are no longer safe in the United States. The government sees them as a dangerous threat, while the world of symbiotes has its own reasons for wanting them dead.
Eddie, tired of running, just wants a normal life again. Venom, on the other hand, is restless — hungry for action, food, and chaos. Their constant arguments continue, but there’s also an unspoken understanding that they need each other more than ever.
A Deadly Pursuit
Soon, the peace they try to build collapses. A military operation led by General Rex Strickland (Chiwetel Ejiofor) begins to hunt them down. At the same time, an even greater danger emerges: the Xenophage, a monstrous alien creature known as a symbiote hunter.
The Xenophage is terrifying — it feeds on symbiotes, and Venom instantly knows how deadly it can be. Eddie and Venom barely escape, leading them into Mexico and across desert landscapes. These settings give the movie a gritty survival feel, very different from the city-based action of the earlier films.

The Codex and the Shadow of Knull
As the story unfolds, we learn about the Codex — a biological remnant that forms when a symbiote resurrects its host. The Codex is powerful, and if gathered, it can awaken Knull, the dark god of the symbiotes.
Eddie realizes that he and Venom are somehow connected to this Codex, which makes them the key to stopping (or unleashing) something catastrophic. This revelation shifts the story from a simple chase movie into something much bigger — a fight against cosmic-level danger.

Allies and Sacrifices
During their journey, Eddie and Venom meet new allies, including a scientist (played by Juno Temple) who understands the Codex. She becomes an important figure in helping them figure out what’s really at stake.
But the enemies are closing in. General Strickland’s forces and the Xenophage continue to hunt them, while the looming threat of Knull’s awakening grows stronger. Eddie and Venom are forced to make impossible choices. They can’t just keep running — they have to fight back.

The Final Battle
The climax of the movie is intense and filled with spectacle. Eddie and Venom face both human forces and alien ones, leading to a battle that tests their limits. Venom goes head-to-head with the Xenophage in a brutal showdown, while Eddie struggles to survive alongside him.
In these moments, their bond is tested like never before. Eddie realizes that his life has meaning because of Venom, while Venom shows that he has grown beyond just being a parasite.
The fight isn’t just physical — it’s also emotional. Eddie and Venom must sacrifice something important to prevent the Codex from awakening Knull fully. Without spoiling too much, the ending gives a sense of closure but also leaves a shadow of mystery about what could come next.
As the dust of battle settles, Eddie finds himself standing in a world that suddenly feels unbearably quiet. Venom is gone, and with him the constant presence that once made Eddie feel both cursed and complete. What remains is an aching void, yet also an undeniable truth—Venom’s sacrifice was not just to save Eddie, but to give him a chance to live with purpose. The weight of that gift steadies him, even as grief threatens to consume him. With a final glance at the horizon, Eddie walks forward, no longer just a man who carried a symbiote, but a man who carries its legacy—a legacy born of sacrifice, forged in loyalty, and destined to shape the path ahead.
